Destination Highlights

  • Seabird Sightings: Expect to see a diverse range of seabirds, including wandering albatrosses, grey-headed albatrosses, black-browed albatrosses, light-mantled sooty albatrosses, cape pigeons, southern fulmars, Wilson’s storm petrels, blue petrels, and Antarctic petrels as you sail south.
  • Beagle Channel Journey: Sail along the stunning, mountain-fringed Beagle Channel, encountering breathtaking landscapes reminiscent of the great polar explorers’ journeys.
  • Antarctic Convergence: Cross Antarctica’s natural boundary where cold, north-flowing waters meet warmer sub-Antarctic seas, entering the circum-Antarctic upwelling zone.
  • Antarctic Sailing: Navigate through Antarctic channels and along coastlines, passing icebergs and towering gray stone peaks adorned with snow, with diverse wildlife above and below.
  • Neumayer Channel: Position the vessel here to launch various basecamp activities, such as Zodiac and kayaking trips, snowshoe hikes, and soft-climb mountaineering, depending on weather conditions.
  • Port Lockroy: Visit the historic British research station turned museum and post office on Goudier Island, and partake in activities around Jougla Point, meeting gentoo penguins and blue-eyed shags.
  • Pléneau & Petermann Islands: Sail through the Lemaire Channel, conditions permitting, to see Adélie penguins, blue-eyed shags, humpback and minke whales, and leopard seals, with opportunities for kayaking and glacier walks.
  • Neko Harbour: Experience the epic landscape of Neko Harbour with its mammoth glaciers and wind-carved snow, ideal for Zodiac cruises and landing for up-close views of alpine peaks.
  • Paradise Bay: Camp overnight like a true polar explorer in the serene and awe-inspiring environment of Paradise Bay.
  • Errera Channel: Explore Danco Island, Cuverville Island, and lesser-known spots like Orne Island and Georges Point on Rongé Island, each offering picturesque views.
  • Melchior Islands: On your final day of near-shore activities, pass through the Melchior Islands, keeping an eye out for humpback whales in Dallmann Bay and considering a stop at Half Moon Island in the South Shetlands.
  • Drake Passage Return: As you cross the Drake Passage, reconnect with the seabirds from your journey south, now familiar companions on your return voyage.
  • Journey’s End: Disembark in Ushuaia with memories of your Antarctic adventure that will accompany you wherever your next journey leads.
